Get Familiar With eNZYM, An Unorthodox Artist And A Multi-Lingual Rapper

Born Royye, known as eNZYM a.k.a. the masked man, hails from Navrongo in the Upper East Region of Ghana.

eNZYM had elementary and high school education in Ejisu, and tertiary education in Sunyani.

Talent Discovery

During High School days, eNZYM had a fondness in using words to create different meanings, which came from his extreme passion for poetry and spoken words until the release of Eminem’s “Not Afraid”, and that was when he discovered music making and rapping as a talent. At the time, he only did it for the fun of it.

Music Career

In 2012, eNZYM featured on the school’s first cypher, under the name “OmegaRedd” making it his first ever studio recording. His verse got the attention of many, most of his mates back in school who were thrilled by poems, spoken word and poetry approached him to write them poems or give them rap freestyles.

He started having deeper clinging to music and felt he could write out songs instead of just poems and spoken word. Changed his nickname to “Enzyme” in 2014. In 2016, eNZYM met a Kumasi based artiste, MickyDarling (now Kojo Myles), spoke to him about a song he wanted to record. MickyDarling was enraptured by the concept and agreed to be featured.

MickyDarling led him to Armagiddon, a sound engineer based in Kumasi when eNZYM received the beat from the American producer Trapezoid to. That became his first ever professional studio master track, titled “SiKK”, a hardcore Hip-hop tune. This is why eNZYM always credited MickyDarling for helping him reach where he is now in the music industry, SiKK was a perfect key to more avenues for him.

Style Of Music

eNZYM is a an unorthodox artist, and a multi-lingual rapper, with basic understanding of 5 main languages: English, Twi, Fante, Hausa, and Pidgen English. His theme of music is centered around dark-themes, societal issues, usage of rap elements, story-telling, his personal life, emotions, basically EVERYTHING and also what a featuring artiste brings on board.

Stage Name

eNZYM has been one of those artists who struggled to settle on a stage name, Mega Mynd, Rebel, Talismann and Omegga Redd are the few names he went by. His friends, school mates and neighbours who listened to his rap used to say he rapped like a Robot, he changed his nickname to “Robot”, later on thought it sounded too basic, he shortened it to “Bot”. Somewhere 2016, remade it to Nzymm Phlo Bott. Currently, uses “eNZYM”, according to him, people found difficulty in pronouncing the old name.

Formation Of “LOOF”

Been a weirdo and a geek in his High School days, eNZYM was a very shy boy and an introvert, also found it hard to belong, well in good faith, he met three other guys, [Abdul – Rahaman (HedLynz), Marfo Ike (Spartus) and Hayford Lebene (bluRAY)], they formed a clique and named it “LOOF” in 2010 with an ambition of owning a corporation when they grow up and that was the company’s name they planned out. “LOOF” means “The Life Of un-Ordinary Folks”.

Since his ushering into music, eNZYM has released a total of 34 singles and a few features, his biggest feature being Amerado. In 2018, he performed at Ayat’s madinafest alongside some A-list artists, in 2019, he was blessed to be on EL’s BAR concert and Sarkodie’s rapperholic, and I must say his career sure is on a rise, watchout for this man.

Formation of 99Blvkk

In 2019, eNZYM together with MaxiMade (a producer and afro dancehall artist) and MarioKingXXXL (a videographer and RnB artist) came together to form 99Blvkk (pronounced 99 Black). They hint of releasing some music, possibly a body of work and some videos to excite us music lovers. Check them out on social media platforms as 99Blvkk.
